8’ Wide Past Projects
Red Cross Raffle at the Oakdale Mall
Assembled in Oakdale Mall, NY, this 8x10 Cedar-Built greenhouse was raffled off by the American Red Cross in April 2003 with great success.
A repeat greenhouse raffle fund-raiser was done again in 2004. The 8' x 10' Free-Standing kit is one of our more popular sized hobby greenhouse kits. Nancy (the Oakdale mall administrator) told us, "I think you will be very pleased with how wonderful it looks! We used our in house mall contractor to build it and they did it in just over 8 hours. I want one for myself !!"
"The Greenhouse was a great success AND we want to do it again in 2004, same size 8' x10' feet and same extras. When we took the Easter decorations down we left the greenhouse for 1 more week for the Orchid Society to use for their annual show in the mall. The man that won the Greenhouse was thrilled! Thanks again!!!” Nancy. Thank you Nancy, we are honored to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.
Located in Independence Missouri, this 8x10 freestanding greenhouse was assembled in Roy McClure's spectacular gardens. Roy says....."What else could a guy need!?"
Roy's greenhouse was ordered with twin walled polycarbonate glazing, solar roof vent openers, benches, insulation package and 2 Dutch Doors. (These doors give access to gardens on each side of the lattice fence.)
Roy tells us, "The area where the greenhouse is located was an unused inground swimming pool which had fallen to disrepair. We filled it in 3 years ago & began the landscaping project. The greenhouse is the crowning jewel."
"Missouri's weather is very changeable, from well below zero with blizzards and ice storms in the winter, to 100 plus degrees with tornadoes and thunderstorms in the summer. Last night a 70 MPH wind went through."
"Just wanted to say "THANKS and what a joy it has been dealing with y’all!”
All the best to you Roy! Thank you for sharing these pictures of your outstanding grounds and greenhouse.
Steve has created a magic effect on his beautiful grounds. By staining his 8x10 Cedar-Built Greenhouse a silvery grey to match his home, it is a focal point in his gardens. Beautiful detailed work throughout this greenhouse and custom client-provided lighting / power show great pride of ownership.
More Greenhouse Photos
We have some nice interior photos of a spacious 8x16 Greenhouse kit located in Seymour, Texas. Phyllis ordered 30” basewalls, a Dutch Door, twin-walled poly, double benches, and roof vent openers. Her husband installed a sink and rods for hanging baskets, as well as power and lights.
Note the beautiful clear (no knots) Western Red Cedar 4x4 posts located both centrally and at the corners and door and window frames. The beams at center span are both useful and well made. Phyllis ordered 16' and 8' double benches in order to give her 8' of floor space against one wall.
Phyllis says, "We do love it! It is very nice! You sell a nice product! I love my greenhouse and my husband for putting it all together for me. It is such a relaxing hobby and the greenhouse is truly lovely. Thank you again.”
Located in Pleasantville, NY, Jeff Saltzman tells us that his 8x12 greenhouse has done an amazing job withstanding chilly New York temperatures. The kit was order with: Polycarbonate glazing (roof and walls), a Dutch Door, MK 7 Automatic Roof Vent Openers, cedar greenhouse benches and our insulation package.
"I put in an electric heater at the far end from the door and it maintains air temperature well. This morning was 15 F and I went out to the greenhouse to water, it was a cozy 73. I got my first electric bill since turning on the heat and did not notice anything dramatically different."
This greenhouse was stained with Sikkens light oak stain which brings out Western Red Cedar's warm brown tones. Thank you for the photos and proof that a Ceda-Built Greenhouse can endure the winter, Jeff!
This stunning 8x16 Cedar-Built Greenhouse overlooks a deep canyon in the mountains of Chico, CA. Shawn ordered plexi-glass sidewalls, twin-walled polycarbonate roof, Dutch Door, and solar roof vent openers.
The client has accented the cedar's rich grain with a slightly darker oil based stain. Lighting on the center beam and a convenient sink on the far wall opposite the door has been installed also. The landscaping and finishing touches make this greenhouse a true classic beauty. Shawn says, "The greenhouse is BEAUTIFUL! I love the finished product. It is prettier than I expected; it seems very well constructed and extremely sturdy."
Located in Southern Pines, NC., this 8x14 Cedar-Built Greenhouse is very spacious, functional and beautiful.
It was ordered with Dutch Door upgrade, benches, and Automatic roof vent openers. The glazing is the clear Plexiglass windows and 6mm Twin-walled Polycarbonate roof. “My wife and I are very pleased with their new greenhouse.” Cliff
Mark and Karen of Anchorage, AK, assembled this charming 8'x10' Cedar-Built Greenhouse. They ordered 6mm twin walled polycarbonate glazing on the roof and side walls, as well as the cedar greenhouse benches and the solar roof vent openers. What a beautiful addition to their yard! They can now extend those shorter growing seasons.
